Showtime, ABS-CBN Corporation’s daytime treat, seems to be lagging behind its rivals, according to the data on ratings released by AGB Nielsen for the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM).
GMA Network’s Eat Bulaga and Ika-6 na Utos remain to be the most-watched TV shows in Philippine daytime viewership.
ABS-CBN has been constantly reconceptualizing Showtime in the hope of gaining a competitive stance in the national nootime ratings game. However, data shows that Showtime seems to be having a hard time overthrowing the series top-billed by Sunshine Dizon and perennial contender noontime show Eat Bulaga.
Here are the comparative TV ratings gathered from July 31 to August 5, 2017 by AGB Nielsen, the industry’s leading market research firm in the Philippines that specializes in broadcast media:
AGB Nielsen gathers data through a larger number of sampled homes, both urban and rural, with an average of 3,500 panels nationwide.
Nielsen subscribers are TV5, Aksyon TV, CNN Philippines, GMA Network, Net 25, Solar Entertainment Corporation, and Viva Communications Inc., among others; regional network Fox Networks Group; blocktimers CBN Asia and TAPE Inc.; and major advertising and media agencies such as Ebiquity-Faulkner, Dentsu Aegis Network (Carat, Mediaforce Vizeum, Dentsu), GroupM (Mediacom, Mindshare, MEC and Maxus), Omnicom Media Group (OMD, PHD and M2M), Zenith Optimedia, and Starcom Mediavest.
On the other hand, ABS-CBN subscribes to Kantar Media Ratings, which has 900 home panels lower as compared to Nielsen.
