Laura Lehmann will officially represent the Philippines in the Miss World 2017 pageant in China. Lehman bested 34 other candidates during the Miss World Philippines 2017 held on September 3, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Lehman, also a former University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) / Ateneo courtside reporter, landed first runner up during the Binibining Pilipinas 2014. Today, three years later, Lehmann wowed the judges with her final answer – that pageants like Miss World should be celebrated, not protested, because these change and empower women.
Meanwhile, Teresita Ssen Winwyn Marquez, daughter of showbiz artists-turned-politicians Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017. The said crown is one of the three new titles included by the new management of Miss World Philippines.
Marquez, like Lehmann, was among the fast trackers in the competition by bagging the Miss Talent and Miss Beach Beauty awards. Lehmann was the fast tracker for the multimedia challenge.
Cynthia Thomalla and Sophia Senoron won the other two new titles under the Miss World Philippines. Thomalla was crowned Miss Eco Philippines 2017 while Senoron gained the title of Miss Multinational Philippines 2017. Glyssa Leian Perez and Zara Carbonell were adjudged First Princess and Second Princess, respectively.
Miss World Philippines is now handled by ALV Talent Circuit. The franchise was offered to by Miss World Organization Chair Julia Morley to ALV’s Arnold Vegafria. Pageant trainer and designer Bessie Besana, formerly of Aces & Queens, is Miss World Philippines’ new general manager. Personality and socialite Cory Quirino gave up the Miss World Philippines franchise last January 2017.
