Presidential Commission on the Urban Poor (PCUP) Chairman Terry Ridon in his Facebook post still thanked President Rodrigo Duterte despite the latter axing him due to “unnecessary travel abroad.” Ridon thanked Duterte for “the opportunity to serve the nation.”
Ridon clarified in his Facebook post the issue of his alleged unnecessary trips: “We had represented government and given voice to the urban poor in international conferences on public housing, poverty alleviation and climate change, which was unprecedented in any administration.”
Ridon also emphasized that his stint in the PCUP upheld “integrity and competence.” He further added that the “public record of the agency can speak for itself: we had implemented with full integrity the presidential promise of no demolition without relocation.”
During a press interview, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said that, “This kind of work performance has no place in the Duterte administration,” pertaining to Ridon’s travels.
Terry Ridon was a former Kabataan Partylist representative and a student activist during his college days in the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila. He also served as Student Regent in the highest policy making body of the UP System.
