GMA Entertainment TV’s Alyas Robin Hood (ARH) is set to return to Philippine television’s primetime block this August. After a very successful first season, ARH is redefining the concept of Pinoy television series by introducing a season-after-season program. This is contrary to the usual and highly-commercialized series extensions that ultimately sacrifice the plot with non-sensical insertions.
Season 2 of ARH will premiere on August 14, 2017 after 24 Oras. It will take the original time slot of Mulawin vs. Ravena and is expected to go head-to-head with ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Entertainment’s epic series, Ang Probinsiyano.
The GMA Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who plays the role of Atty. Jose Paulo “Pepe” de Jesus Jr. / Alyas Robin Hood, will still be joined by Andrea Torres as Venus Torralba. This new season brings in new characters to further intensify the plot. They will be portrayed by Solenn Heussaff, Ruru Madrid, Edu Manzano and Jay Manalo, among others.
ARH’s Season 1 premiered on September 19, 2016 and ended last February 24, 2017 with a total of 115 episodes. ARH pilot episode got a 10.1 ratings in National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) beating its time slot rivals.
After the successful and surprise hit of the series, ARH is now ready for another jam-packed action-drama-comedy. Under the helm of Director Dominic Zapata and written by Suzette Doctolero, who knows what thrilling twists await the viewers.
Last season, ARH ended with a cliff-hanger, where Judy de Jesus, Pepe’s mother played by Jaclyn Jose, was abducted by unidentified men. The last frame of the last episode showed Pepe chasing after his mother and his mother’s abductors. The said cliff-hanger gave the audience a hint Alyas Robin Hood will have a second season.
